On July 19th, 2024, Elo will release a new OS update for its Android 12 devices. This update includes feature enhancements and bug fixes that will improve the performance and usability of these devices. This update will be available for download on the EloView cloud portal as a dropdown OTA and will become the default OTA download on EloView and OEMConfig as of July 26. Please reach out to your Elo support contact for any additional questions or to request access to a direct download of this update.

New features and enhancements:

  • Added support to manage Bluetooth from EloView
  • Added cloud service details to the diagnostic screen of the Elo Home application.
  • Added the ability to enable or disable emoji icons within virtual keyboard for I-Series Value devices.
  • Updated messaging on the screen saver.
  • Resolved an issue where, in some cases, peripherals attached via the Elo Z20 were not displaying under the Peripheral Configurations screen in EloView.
  • Resolved an issue where the back button randomly appeared on-screen in applications and caused crashes when tapped.
  • Resolved an issue where some devices, after an OTA update and factory reset, pointed to EloView 4 instead of EloView 3.
  • Resolved an inconsistency in the Time Zone selection screen during initial setup of a device.
  • Added API support for the following:
    • Enable and disable Bluetooth settings
    • Configure the default device setup mode as EloView
    • Enable and disable Show taps settings of developer options
    • Enable and disable Auto Idle Mode

We highly recommend updating the Peripheral SDK JAR file to AAR for future Android upgrades. Failure to update will cause applications that leverage that library to crash on launch. As always, your devices will never prompt for an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device-level from the EloView Control Panel.
